OpenBarbell V3 Update #7: 🚢

When to expect your order

We’re about 30% done packaging orders (there were a lot of orders) and are working fast to get the remaining orders finished. The app team has finished an incredible V3.0 update and are shifting efforts to help get orders out the door.

Here’s our algorithm to get through shipments:

• First thing we did was combine orders going to the same address. This resulted in the order either keeping the first order ID number or the second, it wasn’t very consistent. This will be important soon.
• Next we focused on domestic orders (sorry international folks!) because our multi-order shipping tool only works for domestic and international needs to be done one at a time.
• After that we focused almost exclusively on single-unit orders so we can spread the love to as many backers as possible.
• We then sorted the remaining orders by order ID, so the shipments go out in order of date/time the order was placed.
• Finally, we can only prepare orders for OpenBarbell accent colors that are completed. For example, if we have 35 World Record Red and 15 Brooklyn Black units ready today, then Timmy who ordered a World Record Red will have his order prepared before Michelle who ordered a Brooklyn Black, even if Timmy ordered an hour before Michelle.

High volume of app submissions in the App Store

As we sprint to the finish line, we’re pushing to get the new OpenBarbell app update approved in the iOS App Store before devices land on doorsteps. We submitted an application for expedited approval to the app store but it was denied to do high volume of requests. We’re not exactly sure what that means for the update, but if you’re one of the first 10% or so who receive their OpenBarbell V3, there’s a slight chance it arrived before the app, and the current version is not V3 compatible. If that’s the case we’ll send out a reminder when it’s ready for download.

We’re working through the best method to distribute tracking numbers for shipped devices, so hang tight for tracking! Now back to work.
